What kind of first aid certificate or licence is it?
Since November 1, 2024. Every certificate lasts 3 years. OFA Level 1, 2 and 3 cards issued before then count as Basic, Intermediate and Advanced until they expire.
Smaller or lower-risk workplaces
None
While it's still valid: a recertification course or the full course. Once it expires: the full course only. There are no extensions or grace period.
Larger, higher-risk, remote or less-accessible workplaces
None
While it's still valid: a recertification course or the full course. Once it expires: the full course only. There are no extensions or grace period.
Workplaces with several risk factors, like remote sites with high hazards
None. A signed statement of fitness before the course.
While still valid: a 35-hour refresher, or challenge the exam if you have a CPR/AED certificate from the last 6 months. Once expired: the full 70-hour course.
Add-on for remote or less-accessible workplaces, wherever an attendant “with transportation endorsement” is required
A valid Basic or Intermediate certificate, and a signed statement of fitness. Advanced already includes it.
Take the course again. It also needs a valid Basic or Intermediate certificate underneath it.
