Advanced First Aid
WSBCAccepted in BC workplacesAdvanced First Aid (previously OFA 3) is an in-depth 70-hour program that gives first aid attendants a much deeper understanding of emergency procedures and patient care. Learners are trained and assessed across anatomy and physiology, injury and trauma management, medical emergencies, airway and oxygen therapy, CPR/AED, and multiple-casualty situations. It prepares attendants for high-level workplace first aid responsibilities.
What you’ll learn
- Understand anatomy, physiology, and priority action approaches
- Manage soft tissue, eye, and burn injuries
- Treat head, spinal, pelvic, and abdominal injuries
- Respond to medical emergencies such as diabetes, asthma, and poisoning
- Deliver oxygen therapy and manage the airway
- Perform CPR/AED and manage respiratory and circulatory emergencies
- Handle fractures, dislocations, and environmental injuries
- Coordinate multiple-casualty management and rapid transport

Prerequisites
At least 19 years of age · Government-issued photo ID · Pre-course homework completed before day one · Medically and physically able to perform floor work · Recommended: Basic First Aid and Transportation Endorsement
Completion & certification
To receive your credentials you must attend and complete the entirety of the course and complete all the necessary components as required by the course provider.
