Frequently asked questions
The things people ask most — certificates, booking, payment, and how our courses run. Can’t find it? Send us a message or call (250) 787-9315.
Booking & payment
Three ways, whichever suits: pick a date on the calendar and register yourself; tap 'Book a Course' anywhere on the site to have our AI booking assistant find dates, set up every attendee and take you to secure payment; or call (250) 787-9315 and we'll do it with you. For a whole crew or training at your site, request a quote instead.
Yes — we require prepayment for all training, with one exception: approved company accounts are invoiced on their terms. Card payments run on our secure payment provider; your card details never touch our site or the chat.
Fill out the credit application under Tools & resources → Set up an account, or call us. Once you're approved, your bookings can be invoiced instead of prepaid on 30-day terms, and your workers can register against the account.
No. Have them register with their work email address and the system recognizes your company automatically. Codes are only needed if someone books with a personal email.
Approved accounts are invoiced on 30-day terms rather than paying at the time of booking. Everyone else pays by card through the secure Stripe checkout.
You can join the waitlist. Waitlisted seats are never charged, and we call the moment a spot opens. If the date is tight, call us — there's often another session that works, or we can add one.
Call (250) 787-9315 or reply to your confirmation email as early as you can — the sooner we know, the more options there are for you and for the other people on the course. Our booking terms apply; you can read them in full on the terms page.
Most courses run on a per-session minimum (typically 8, course-dependent). Minimums are per session, and unused seats don't carry credit to another date. The quote and registration flows show this before you commit.
Before your course
Valid government-issued photo ID — every student has to show it, no exceptions, because your legal name goes on the certificate. Beyond that: dress for hands-on work, and bring anything listed as a prerequisite on your course page (some courses need boots, long sleeves, or a current ticket).
Our public courses run at 10123 99 Avenue, Fort St. John (the HR Block building) — check in at the front desk when you arrive. Park on the street, or in the paved lot directly across 99 Avenue from our building. We also run courses in Grande Prairie and at client sites; if your course is somewhere else, the location is on your confirmation email.
8:00 AM unless we've told you otherwise. Please arrive about 15 minutes early to sign in.
Call (250) 787-9315 right away. Anyone more than 10 minutes late for the course start without giving us notice can't be admitted — certification requires the full course, and a late entry disrupts everyone else in the room.
Yes. The online portion has to be complete before your in-class date, or you can't take part in the hands-on session. Your registration email has your personal link to it; you can start, stop and come back any time, and it remembers where you were.
Certificates & records
A Certificate of Completion is issued by Alpha Training Solutions for our own courses — the verification code on it is the authoritative record. A Record of Training is for courses certified by a third party (Energy Safety Canada, Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance). It confirms the training was delivered through us and supplements the provider's official ticket — it does not replace it.
Once your instructor signs off, your credential appears in your learner portal at the 'My training' page. From there you can download the full certificate as a PDF, and 'Save to phone' gives you a digital wallet card plus a printable wallet card — each as its own file for your Photos or Files.
Every certificate carries a short verification code and a QR code. Anyone can scan the QR or enter the code at alpha-training.ca/verify to confirm it's valid, who it was issued to, the course, and the expiry date. No login needed.
Most tickets are valid for three years — the exact validity is on your course page and printed on the certificate. Recertification courses are shorter than the full course, but you generally have to take them before your current ticket expires. We send a reminder ahead of time so it doesn't sneak up on you.
Often not: once a ticket lapses, most certifying bodies require the full course again rather than the shorter renewal. Call us with your expiry date before you book — we'll tell you which one you need rather than have you pay for the wrong course.
Certificate names come from your course registration (as on government ID). Reply to any of our emails or call (250) 787-9315 and we'll correct the record and reissue.
Courses & delivery
Blended courses split into an online theory portion you complete beforehand and a shorter hands-on in-person session. It cuts classroom time while keeping the practical assessment that safety training requires.
Some, yes — those run start-to-finish online at your own pace, with no classroom date to book. They're marked 'Online' in the catalogue, and you can start as soon as you've registered. Anything with a hands-on skill in it stays blended or in person, because those skills have to be demonstrated in front of an assessor.
Yes — we run on-site and private courses across Northern BC and Alberta. Request a quote with your dates, location, and crew size and we'll put together the whole package, including travel and site logistics.
Use the first aid requirements navigator in our Tools & resources — it walks you through the workplace class, hazard rating, travel time, and crew size to the minimum certification you need. It's guidance; your employer still completes their own first aid assessment.
It depends on the course, and it's listed on every course page. Our Intermediate First Aid courses include CPR-C; Basic First Aid includes CPR-A; Basic Life Support is CPR-BLS. If you need a specific level for your job, check the course page or ask us before booking.
Our courses are competency-based — you progress by demonstrating understanding, with your instructor there to review anything you miss before it's finalized. Any assessed result can be challenged to a person: use the 'contest' link on the verify page or contact us, and a human reviews every challenge.
For employers
Yes — the employer portal shows everyone on your account, what they hold, and what's coming up for renewal, and you can export it for an audit. Ask us to link your workers to your company account and it fills in from there.
That's most of what we do. Tell us your rotation and crew size in a quote request and we'll build the schedule around it — our facility or yours, including evenings and back-to-backs during a shutdown.
Not yet — and we'd rather say so plainly. Alpha Training Intelligence is our own platform: an AI instructor that teaches one-on-one and makes learners explain their reasoning, with a human assessor verifying the hands-on skills. The first course built to it is Confined Space Entry, Monitor & Rescue, opening soon. From there it becomes the standard for courses certified under Alpha's own name. Courses delivered under another body's certification — Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, Energy Safety Canada — run exactly as those organizations design them.
