The part most Alberta companies miss
In BC, it’s BC’s rules.
First aid on a worksite is governed by the province the site is in — not where your company is registered or where your crew is dispatched from. Send an Alberta crew to a BC lease and that site now falls under WorkSafeBC’s Occupational First Aid requirements. BC scales those requirements to three things: how many workers are on site, the hazard rating of the work, and how far the site is from a hospital.
It’s that last one that catches remote Peace Country operations. When a site is far enough from medical care that transporting an injured worker could fall to your attendant, WorkSafeBC requires that attendant to hold a Transportation Endorsement. It’s not optional, and an Alberta first aid ticket alone doesn’t cover it.

A one-day course that prepares first aid attendants to move, package and transport injured or ill workers to provincial standards. Attendants are trained and assessed on patient handling, spinal immobilization and coordinating with emergency medical services.
It pairs with your existing first aid certificate. Come with a current recognized Basic or Intermediate first aid ticket, and leave endorsed to package and transport a patient to WorkSafeBC standards. Valid 36 months · $229 + GST.

It's a one-day add-on for current first aid attendants — training and assessment on how to safely move, package and transport an injured or ill worker to medical aid. WorkSafeBC requires it wherever a worksite is far enough from a hospital that transporting a patient may fall to the on-site attendant.
