The 2024 requirements series, in watching order

Four short WSBC videos made for the November 2024 changes. About 18 minutes in all. Mainly for employers, and useful for attendants, supervisors and committee members.

Key points
- Every BC workplace needs a written first aid assessment (in effect Nov 1, 2024).
- Part 1 = minimum levels, from four factors: number of workers (all who regularly attend), industry hazard rating of your classification unit, remoteness, and accessibility.
- Remote = more than 30 minutes' drive from the nearest BCEHS ambulance station; less-accessible = not reachable by land ambulance, or hazardous areas where ambulance attendants cannot safely access/transport a worker.
- Remoteness + accessibility give the workplace class; class + hazard rating + worker count give the minimums in Schedule 3-A (facilities, equipment, attendants, transportation).
- Part 2 = consider unique hazards, reasonably expected injury types (first aid records, claims history, industry associations, WSBC statistics), barriers to reaching first aid, and barriers to ambulance response/transport.
- Complete it in consultation with the joint committee or worker representative (or workers directly in small workplaces, e.g., toolbox talks, phone/video).
- Review and update annually and whenever a significant change affects it; a fillable First Aid Assessment Worksheet is available.
