Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE)

Length of Course: 16 hours
Certification: BC Wildlife Federation
Valid: No Expiry

  • Be at least 10 years of age (10-14 Junior's Licence)
  • Government Issued Photo I.D. (pre-approved supplementary I.D. for younger students)
  • Wear modest clothing (no tank tops) for working in close contact with other students
  • Be medically and physically apt to perform practical course related activities

The purpose of CORE is to provide students with a basic standard of knowledge and skill for their safe and ethical participation in outdoor recreation. This program is useful for anyone interested in outdoor recreation and wildlife. CORE should be viewed as the foundation for any outdoor recreational user. This course is mandatory for new hunters in the Province of British Columbia.

  • Have knowledge about Laws and Regulations
  • Have knowledge about Outdoor Survival and Safety
  • Have knowledge about Firearms Safety
  • Have knowledge about Animal Identification
  • Have knowledge about Bird Identification
  • Have knowledge about Freshwater Fisheries Supplemental

As part of this course, you will:

  • Take part in course activities
  • Take part in written exam
  • Take part in Practical Scenario Exam
