Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED

Length of Course: 16 hours
Certification: St. John Ambulance
Valid: 3 years
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Government Issued Photo I.D.
  • Wear modest clothing (no tanks) for working in close contact with other students
  • Be fit to perform floor-work and first aid related activities

This 2-day certification course is suitable for BC workers who require WorkSafe BC OFA-1 first aid. This course also meets first aid requirements for Canada Labour Code Basic and Standard First Aid, Emergency Child and Adult Care facilities, Corrections Canada, and Marine Basic First Aid. On successful completion participants receive a Standard for Industry with CPR-C certificate valid for 3 years plus a CPR-ABC-AED certificate.

Course contents include:

  • roles and responsibilities
  • management of an unresponsive casualty
  • adult, child and infant resuscitation including 1 rescuer CPR with automated external defibrillation (AED), and first aid for choking)
  • 2 rescuer adult CPR
  • medical conditions
  • management of a responsive casualty with head/spinal injuries
  • chest injuries
  • multiple casualty management
  • poisoning
  • severe bleeding
  • secondary survey
  • wound care
  • burns and WHMIS
  • eye injuries
  • bone and joint injuries
  • heat and cold injuries
  • rescue carries
  • emergency childbirth
  • poisoning
  • dental emergencies
  • written examination

Upon successful completion of all components participants will receive a national certificate valid for 3 years.
